Making a difference
We are always looking for ways to support the students of the East Islip School District. FTK hosts an end-of-year celebration across our elementary buildings. Kids enjoy a lively party with a DJ, complete with fun gifts like sunglasses, frisbees, and bracelets to take home.
Our 8th graders look forward to their own party, complete with pizza, ice cream, and more music to dance the day away. Hosted after final exams in June it is always a fun time!
Our graduating seniors are treated to a catered BBQ, featuring all the BBQ favorites and refreshing ice cream. We give the the kids one last chance to hang out together as a class and make memories for a lifetime. There are games, interactive inflatables, and opportunities for yearbooks to be passed around and signed.
Book Vending Machines
Thanks to your generosity and support, FTK purchased four custom book vending machines — one for each of the elementary schools in the district. These machines, designed to hold over 300 books each, offer students the joy of selecting a book on their birthday, fostering a love for reading and celebrating their special day.

In addition, FTK has committed to supplying the books to keep the machines fully stocked all year and for years to come, ensuring every elementary student in the district continues to benefit from this exciting initiative.

Sachin Kamath
Back in 2023, I had the pleasure of meeting with 8th grader Sachin Kamath, who was working on his Eagle Project. He had reached out to FTK for help with funding the project. He was building 2 LEGO tables to be donated to JFK’s and RCK’s LEGO Club. We were excited to be apart of Sachin’s project and seeing the tables being used in the buildings!
Sachin became one of the youngest boy scouts to earn an Eagle Badge. A member of Troop 205, Sachin completed his Eagle Board of Review on June 12, 2024 officially making him the 114th Eagle Scout in the history of Troop 205 of Great River, East Islip, and Islip Terrace.
"Becoming an Eagle Scout has been a significant part of my life. My Scouting journey has been a time of self-discovery, skill-building, and community service," Sachin said. "Through it all, I have learned about who I am and what I stand for."

EAST ISLIP, NY - At the East Islip Board of Education meeting on Oct. 9, 2018 the district honored an esteemed local organization, the For the Kids Foundation, for its $40,000 donation to fund East Islip High School’s new WFTK broadcasting studio.
The school’s old studio debuted in 1989 and has been running for the last eight years under the guidance of teacher James Connell.
The upgraded facility, including new cameras and electronics, will now be home to a modern state of the art video production studio capable of broadcasting live video over the internet.
High school students in Heather Toomey’s art classes competed in a contest to design a logo for WFTK, with senior Michael Laird’s effort named the winner.
